Any ideas for side jobs?

Does anyone have any ideas for a good way to make some money with the free time afforded by an on-call 91/135 schedule? I usually have a lot of free time that I would like to use more productively, but being on call 24/7 makes it hard to commit to a schedule. I'm sure a lot of people in here are in the same situation and maybe somebody has figured out something that works.

The first thing I'd be concerned about is if you're on call 24/7, how do you obtain your legal rest for 135 flights?

I've seen this debate about duty and rest before and it goes nowhere. My company is aware of rest requirements, and we comply. I'd rather hear from people with ideas for a side business/job.

I started a flight school. It's working well, just have to be up front with students regarding scheduling. Provide a good service and people are willing to be flexible.

Do you fly corporate? How long is your call out if you dont mind me asking? About how many hours do you fly a year? Does the other guy that run the school with you on call with someone too (assuming there is another partner, just looking at your website)? Just curious questions.

Nice website btw.

I still flight instruct. It is nice. . . But I do let my students know in advance that my "real job" must come first if they want to fly with me. It is funny, because I now have more students that want to fly with me I think because I'm a (and let me use this word very loosely) "professional Pilot".

I do bring a lot more real world to the table than the other flight instructors on staff though which I think students really do like. The flight school likes to have me there because it helps in marketing that they have real world "drivers" as flight instructors.

My bosses also like it because it adds to my TT time and experience!

I like it because I would be at the airport anyway just hanging around, so now I at least get to get paid for it! I also see it as part of my way to "pay it forward" to the next group of folks out there!

How do you guys deal with the callouts? When I was on call it was 25 minutes to planeside. Couldnt do much but hang out at Barnes N Noble much less a second job/side business.
