Just saw the news tonight

Delta Express from somewhere in South Dakota to MSP. Pilot pulled off the aircraft by police and failed alcohol test. Bad deal.

I hope he/she gets the help he/she needs.
Yeah, me too, as far as the drinking goes. As for the flying while drunk... how drunk do you have to be to attempt to get behind the controls while drunk?? Limited empathy for that part of the equation.

I don't agree. You don't have to be stumbling drunk to be "too drunk" to operate an aircraft.

I absolutely agree that as a professional it takes a conscious effort to not put yourself in this situation. But people who have a problem won't necessarily understand this at the time.

Skywest holier than thou strikes again!

You guys are a really odd pilot group.

I hope they get the help they need.
how so? because i expect someone to act professionally in this industry?

im not minimalizing someone who has true issues with alcohol. One of my best friends has an issue with it and hes getting help through HIMS.

However what i do notice in our pilot group is the complete disregard for ones career in lieu of a fun overnight.

I am calling out those who have issues with decision making. So yeah, i am tired of this sort of thing around the industry.

At the end of the day if this person has a problem, then i hope that he gets help. Its never too late...never.

If this was a result of stupidity and not caring enough to make better decisions, then he needs to get his butt in gear and do whatever can be done at this point to save his life and career.

Oh the story I know of a recently fired CA at a certain company I can't comment much further. Lets just say I wish certain people would get their asses into HIMS before it's too late.
