Animals at the airport

I instruct out of Tacoma Narrows airport. This morning I taxied right by a bald eagle. He was eating some unfortuate furry creature. I can't believe I didn' t have my camera. A couple of weeks ago we had to go around because a coyote was sitting right between the one and the seven. When I was in Sacramento, I would often see a fox family somewhere around the airport (is a group of foxes a pack?). Any other interesting wild animals you guys have seen at your airport?

I see deer mafias pretty often around the northeast airports. I think they usually say...."Hey Tony, lets whack this warrior tonight"

I've seen a fox/coyote (not sure what it was) run across the runway and taxiway a couple times.

I had a bear come out of a cornfield, that borders the rw. He came out and just sat right down on the center line. We could see him walking in the field as I was on the downwind, on final he decided to warm up on the rw. One of the guys at the FBO came out in his truck and scared it away. Seemed like a good time to call a "go-a-round"

At ERAU, an aircraft had a 'runway incursion' with a deer.

A few years ago, all departures at CVG stopped on 18L because two coyotes (foxes? weird looking skinny dogs?) decided to frolick around and stop on the runway and provide 'free canine porn'.

The sad part, the eagle was eating a big rabbit that I had been feeding near my office. Hare today, gone tomorrow. The ATP Seattle moscot is no more.

Just go grab one in AK. Kristie and I honestly saw no less than 100 during our cruise.

Usually digging in a garbage can behind a cafe!

I miss Tacoma alot. Here in columbus KOSU they get lots of coyote and a deer or two from time to time. I never even knew that there were coyotes in OH.

Saw Coyotoes running across the runway at Sedona and I buzzed a desert burro once. Desert Burros are wild in AZ; but they are still as stubborn as mules. The burro didn't even get scared when the airplane came by; just nodded his head and finally decided that he'd better walk off slowly!

I've had a dog run across the runway when I was on final one time. And I've smacked a bird, too.

I really don't need any more animal stories when it comes to flying. Both of those moments were "oh, [poop]" moments.

Burros rock.

This is an old picture that Kristie and I took while in Las Vegas":
