And people thought Eclipse was the inventor of the VLJ

Not too much of a looker... like something a Falcon, a Lear, and a Piaggio might have conceived after a honeymoon at Chernobyl, but I still love that kind of stuff.

They were a bit ambitious with the performance numbers weren't they? Are there any VLJ that can match those today?

Yeah. The movie one is the one that's sitting just north of Vista, right? Black, with wing tanks?

Wow, have not seen a fake movie like that in a long time. Love the taxi sequence shot from the hood of the tug to make it look like it taxied on its own. And when do you get to call the tower from 10K? Oh-low time or student pilot move to touch the mic when talking....

the one at WHP is just a movie prop if i recall correctly

Well that would make sense why it's never flown then.

Edit to add: Unless someone did a great job of photo editing years ago, there is a picture in Roky's in the back near the exit to the ramp of it in the air I think.

Ehhh Cessna had them beat in 1959

From the FoxJet specs: Max. take-off weight 4550 lb :rotfl:

No. Flipping. Way. The E500 had the benefit of CAD and FEA, and was still -- as far as Jane Garvey was concerned -- 5,950 lbs.

Using their proposed numbers, the thing has a thrust-weight ratio about 10% higher than most transport jets, but had a wing loading closer to a C402, so I guess they were serious about getting out of grass fields.
