An observation about airlines that are growing rapidly and hiring

Recently, I did a little search on airlines and compared the number of job positions available between a few airlines, primarily between JetBlue and United and a few other major legacy carriers and low cost carriers.

Based on my observation, it seems that low cost carriers have way more number of job openings available than major legacy carriers. In addition, it seems that low cost carriers have more full time openings than major legacy carriers which have mostly seasonal or part time positions.

So, would it be true that low cost carriers are rapidly growing and hiring more employees than major legacy carriers? Correct me if I am wrong, but do you think that seems to be the case?

Airlines don't bet much bigger than the legacys already are, little growth potential. The LCCs have a huuuge(trump) amount of room to expand and grow.

LCC's are just creating the cost structure they won't be able to survive with.

Know who kicked SWA's butt in ATL? It wasn't Delta. It was Frontier and Spirit.

A lot of people want cheap and the brand is no-longer synonymous with cheap when you've got the Frontiers, the Allegiants and the Spirits with assets deployed nationwide.

Technically, it's still the morning out here so burrito, as in chorizo-egg-potato breakfast burrito.

I'm absolutely convinced it was a bachelor that came up with the breakfast burrito.

Who else would go to the otherwise-empty fridge and say "hmmm....tortillas, eggs, old sausage and cheese-whiz. I can make this work!"?

I'm NOT saying that they're not completely yummy, just sayin' that that's how they were created. As with most wonderful things on this ball, it was most likely a happy accident.

Graham Crackers came from some idiotic pastor who thought that his creation would be so sinfully delicious, it would supplant non-procreational sexual desire (and m… m…. uhhh self-pleasure), but it sure makes a delicious crust for a key lime pie.

Mmmm…. pie.

Sweet, delicious…. TANGY…. key lime pie.

And let's not forget the Ice Cream Sundae....

[EDITED]

And, on second thought....just go to Youtube and search for Robot Chicken Ice Cream Sundaes... probably too NSFW for JC....

I'm not going to use the S word, but the first carrier that realizes X number of quality applicants are the ONLY applicants available in the entire industry is going to come out ahead. I'm picking on the big three for being picky, yes.

The LCCs and ULCCs may be looked down upon as a career stop, but every pilot out there that thinks they're "good enough", maybe even better, given the upgrade time at Spirit for example, is one less pilot the legacies will hire and they are the fastest growing...

Just fostering some discussion. I didn't use the S word. :)

In this environment in the 135 world you can actually put your competition out of business by hiring all the qualified people.

Maybe so, but you have to be sure not to forsake the people you already have when doing it or else they might just go 121.

Latest Fortune fastest growing companies lists Spirit at #81 with this comment:"
ultralow cost airline keeps spending and amenities [as any customer can tell you] so spartan that it generates an impressive 18.4 % operating margin"
Their three year annual growth rate was 30%.
