AMF and 99

There seems to be alot of questions about how quick to get the 99 here at AMF. It really depends on where and how lucky you might get. I ran into a pilot who was in my chieftain class and is based in BFI. BFI is or was one of the most senior bases I think. I couldn't figure out why he was in BUR until he said that he was in the 99 training. So two months flying the chieftain in one of the most senior bases he moved into the 99. Just so happened there was a few people who left out of BFI to where they needed a 99 driver. Things can change daily you never know what is around the corner here.

So when are you getting the 1900 into SGU?:D

ha ha ha ha ha
first thing first I need the 99 in SLC

There is a piaggio(sp) on the field now wait it just flew over the house yeah they sound funny, and the air attack dudes are hiring in the twin commanders pistons/turbine here.

It was 85 today and clear I miss SGU

Yeah, I miss it too. But ask me again in July or August:)!

I heard that there was a piaggio in town, but haven't heard who bought it yet.

There was a guy that was coming to AMF SLC about 6-8 months ago, but I guess he didn't want to give up flying those twin commanders. The guy that owns'em seems like he'd be cool to work for, but I've only talked to him a few times.

You still live there? Commute?

JayAre's address is...

Toyota Tundra Way
Burbank, California 91504

It's also known as the parking lot in front of Amflight.

Yes I live here on the weekends and commute it sucks donkey balls. July and August do blow, but I can get cheap rates at green springs golf course. I know who the owner is of the commanders and probaly could be working there this summer easy job and fun flying, but I also know who does the maintance. I would rather trust my life to AMF.

KLB I have found a portable A/C unit that runs off ice just got to figure out how to hide it like the GPS in the bottom of the flight bag.

Im going nuts the boat is ready and I got to split back to work tomorrow, the bass are starting to move and stage at the local ponds.

I have to try to head to Mississippi to do some bass fishing with my pops before it gets to hot.

Hey I'm rather new to the forum (first post, yay!) and I've been looking into AMF and AirNet a lot lately. Do they still take training captains and is it still true that after doing that you go directly into the 99? I've got about 900TT and I think the training captain program would be a cool indoctrination into Part 135 cargo.

You get hired on as a Chieftain Training Captain and you'll teach in the Chieftain at least until you get your 1,200 hours. After that you'll head to the 99 as a line pilot/online training captain most likely.

You live in Socal? Willing to move to Burbank?

I grew up in central California and I'm not opposed to living in LA for a bit. It seems to be a nice way to get into the cargo deal before having full 135 mins. I'm also looking into the SIC program with AirNet but I hear they don't pay nearly as well.

this is correct. BFI is a very senior base...however movement happens! Seems to happen every couple years. We are still needing two more pa-31 drivers. The two we just got are now in the 99. A few years ago, pilots were stuck in the pa-31 for years up here. Can't count on anything, can't count out anything...it's all a crap shoot.

Dude I was running Chieftain sims the other day and saw one of the two guys that just upgraded. I was like, "Didn't we train you in the Chieftain like...erm...2 months ago!?"

I couldn't believe it.

Hey Trybysky!

I've been trying to get back up there for my third tour of TDY out of BFI. They are trying to save some money by keeping that other guy TDY'd up there until they get the new guy through training. I'm going to OAK for a week instead. It's a real bummer.
