I'm taking the American Flyers FIRC. I couldn't help but post this question and the "correct" (in bold) answer.

The best resource available for guidance concerning the intent and interpretation of regulations and FAA policy is
A. FAA.gov.
B. a more experienced instructor or DPE.
C. the nearest Flight Standards District Office.

Just curious why you would say that, and not FAA.gov.

I suppose the FSDO is the closest to the official regulations. They also provide an interpretation function, which you and a website cannot do alone.

But what if you're equidistant from two different FSDOs? And they (as is more likely than not) have opposing interpretations? OH TEH NOEZ!

Isn't that exactly what was happening before the FAA finally clarified the CFI renewal as checkride question? Current according to one region but what if you had an incident that got their attention in another?

(sigh) another standard falls to the wayside due to public pressure.
Like letting the kids run the school.
They could be COMBINED, but they are totally separate knowledge/skill certificates.

It's odd how people want everything to count as a BFR, I bet a 709 ride doesn't...

My FSDO is the NY IFO so not sure what they would say to any queries...
