American Eagle - Commute? Life? Trips?

Ive done as much research as possible on the forums, but the few questions below I couldnt find answered, or are out of date.

I live within 30 - 40 min driving distance of DCA and IAD, so I was looking into the possibility of going to Eagle and being based out of either ORD, BOS or LGA.

Does AE have any type of commuter clause or policy?
Are the trips commutable out of these bases?
What type of schedules do these bases have? 4 on 3 off? or is it random?
Anyone based out of these locations with AE, how do you like it?

I was ORD based for a bit.

There are 3 and 4 day trip lines. However, as a new hire pilot, you'll not hold such a line for a while. You'll be on reserve. After a period of time (which will vary) you'll hold the seniority to bid a 'hard line'.

There is a commuter policy.

I like flying for AE. Winter OPS in ORD kinda bite.. but that's the weather, not the company.

So if I went to AE and asked for one of these bases, I would be looking at sitting in a crashpad for 3 or 4 days waiting for CS to call? Is the 2 hour from call to show the only type of reserve AE has? In my search for the answers above, it seems that ORD is so understaffed that they send BOS reserves to ORD to cover the flying.

Sitting around on Reserve just doesn't really happen as far as I can tell.

I've flown over 90 hours so far this month. I still have two days left in the calendar month on reserve. I may max out.

Sounds like fun. How long do pilot sit reserve currently at Eagle? With regards to domicile, does ones domicile dictate equipment they will be on?

Reserve varies.. and 'sitting on reserve' is almost non-existent.

It happens, but rarely.

Domicile choices.. eh.. talk to HR about that one.

Why dont you apply to AWAC? and not have to commute. Their contract is good, and upgrade times for now, are shorter than eagles. And even if you cant get DCA, there only other 2 domiciles are ORF and PHL.

This is only one opinion however, we just got a street captain from Eagle.

He was on a ERJ in ORD. He said it's a terrible company and that Colgan was comparable.

Needless to say, we didn't believe him.

I did. However when I went to the open interview I only had 340 hours. I was told to reapply in 3 months (April 29th). Im going to apply to both AWAC and AE at the same time. Im hoping for AWAC obviously, but if not hired Ill interview with AE.

Man I wish expressjet was hiring so in a few months we could be furlough-buddies :(

Livin the dream... What about Republic, I think we have some commutable bases and may even have a base at DCA or IAD. Too lazy to look. May need more hours to hit them up though.

MIA is a ATR only base and is/was close (for the right person they will open any base). Keep in mind ATL - MIA is a hard commute.
Do you have a interview date yet?

Currently living in LAS, but have family and previously lived in SoCal. I'm heading to Dallas for the interview on the 21st. What are reserve times looking like for LAX? I'm thinking that would be the best bet for me, as long as it's open! Don't really care about the jet or prop. Flying a T-Prop now and I love it... more money would be nice, however. From what I have read LAX is pretty senior, correct?

I just got back from Dallas, have fun at the interview. Know your jepps and know 121 FAR. I know Lax was offered to one guy in my group. I also know LGA had to TDY some guys in to cover flying the mouth.

Nice work bro! :nana2::nana2:

About how long is the wait to go from interview to starting ground? Or from interview to this RJ course.
