Negotiators for American Eagle Airlines and the Air Line
Pilots Association reach a tentative agreement to raise
wages by 4 percent in January 2005 and by 1 percent in
January 2006 as part of mid-contract reopener of their
current 16-year contract. The proposed agreement, covering
2,700 pilots at American Airlines' regional affiliate, is
subject to approval by the American Eagle pilots' Master
Executive Council after contract language is finalized. No
membership ratification is required.

In addition to the pay increases, the tentative agreement
also calls for enhancements to a tax code Section 401(k)
plan and quality of work life improvements, according to
ALPA spokesman James Magee. It also gives management greater
flexibility in reserve and reassignment rules, he says.

The 16-year contract , which took effect Sept. 1, 1997,
prohibits strikes or lockouts for its duration and provides
guaranteed but unspecified pay raises in each year based on
an industry averaging index. Every fourth year, the contract
provides for formal bargaining to make mid-contract changes
and calls for interest arbitration to determine unresolved
issues. . . . Page A-7
