How is ALPA addressing the Fee for Departure issue in the industry? What steps are being taken to stop the constant whipsaw?

Good question.

There is actually a Fee For Departure Carrier Committee set up with the various MECs. It is chaired by Tom Wychor a Captain as Mesaba who is well aware of the issues faced by the fee for departure airlines and their pilots.

The Committee is working to harmonize fee for departure contracts. Might want to talk to your MEC about this issue.

You call your status rep? Or perhaps our LEC reps, or even DN or TZ?

Or just hoping for conjecture on an online forum?

Anyway - that PDF should provided a great deal of insight.

Especially now; seeing that he is now part of the DCI whipsaw extravaganza!:banghead:
If I remember right ALPA was discussing this issue when we were in Vegas. I think they were trying to get the major carrier MEC's onboard as well.
