Alaska Hawaiian Merger Serious Version

This is the present and I assure you: These things are happening right now.
Which part, that we’re down a couple very old 900s that would be excessively costly to keep on the line, or the fact that you think we’re not going to receive a single aircraft next year? Again, I’ll worry when something bad actually happens.

6 this year. 6 next year.

We will not receive any new aircraft this year. Simple arithmetic means we will start 2025 with less mainline aircraft than in 2024.

All of this was verified by the pilot call by management.

It's not impossible but it will take some serious heavy lifting to meet 2025 goals at this point. Not to mention their suppliers which have been forced to furlough workers and will need to restart production as well.

We could start 2026 with more mainline aircraft than 2025 but I doubt we will.

Except that’s not what you said. Yes we will start 2025 with less aircraft but that’s literally 2 months from now. This is the problem literally everyone had with you. You take a tiny tidbit of factual information and twist it into the most unhinged, worst-case-scenario and try to spin it as fact. I mean, whatever gets your rocks off man but we’re going to continue to refute when you post your doomsday opinion as fact.

You're putting a lot of faith in a broken company with completely broken safety culture right now. According to people very high up in the 737 program they won't be able to meet 2025 goals.

This is what you are painting as a doomsday scenario when it is the most likely outcome at this point.

We'll see how the 3rd TA vote goes at BA...

What’s that delivery goal again? Oh yeah, a lot more than 12 aircraft. So we don’t have to come close to meeting the 2025 delivery goal in order to grow. I’m not putting faith anywhere, I’m just not gonna stress over things that are out of your and my control.

We could meet our 2025 aircraft goal. See what I did there? That scenario is just as likely as the one you tout as fact.

Yeah one of the smallest players getting a priority on aircraft. OK. Have fun with that delusion. We'll be playing catch up from 2024 during all of 2025. If we get the 2025 orders we would be up at total of 3 aircraft for end of 2025. Still far less than we had in 2019.

It’s not just wearing the hat. It’s the fact it was said as “people GTFO of your way.”

“Strength through projection”

And yes, if I had to guess, I would have guessed long sleeve shirt. Zero surprise there.

As I've already mentioned I think judging other people by how they wear a uniform is a total waste of time. My last FO wore grey pants and a non uniform off colored tie. I didn't say anything to him about it at all. It's not my job. He did a great job flying the aircraft. That's all I care about.

Really? Our FOM (and the FOM I flew under prior to that) had uniform compliance listed under Captain responsibilities.

I feel like that’s the case everywhere. The one time a guy had “sus” black pants on I stopped short of saying something because the dude literally was probably at least 7 feet tall. I figured he had a hard enough time finding something that fit anywhere, let alone from the uniform store.

How do you even bring that up? I would think you’re serious but ends up killing the mood / CRM. Or, you could be chill and relaxed as you mention it, but that chill tone would be met with a “oh who made you uniform police?”

Just curious what you’d say as CA.

The arm rests are so filthy that I started developing skin problems on my elbows. The problems went away when I was on vacation. It's super gross if you think about it so I started wearing long sleeves again.

They teach the arm rests in CA school don't they? I've never put them down. Is it more comfortable? How do you put them down? :)

I'm not really sure what someone would expect an FO to do, while already on a trip. It isn't like the uniform store is super available by that point. Hopefully most everyone is professional enough to have pants that are at least within a couple shades of the correct one. I don't really know what you do with someone who can't make that happen, especially making what an FO here makes these days. That isn't a TMAAT question id have a great answer for, other than "I can't fix that" and "not my hill to die on". Yes, if they were bright yellow pants, I guess it would have to be said, but some type of dark pant that didn't look ridiculous walking next to me in the terminal? I dunno. This isn't the military.

One other take, would be that the hat gives BEEF some extra confidence and pep in his step. I don't say that disparagingly. I feel more confident when I'm well dressed with some great kicks. People GTFO of the way when they are being approached by a person who looks confident. And I'll say that some of the CAs I follow around the airport are level 5 masters of just blasting through a group of gate lice with no F's given. I think the hat is a silly bygone tradition, but others probably do not, and associate it with the job/title/responsibility level. I want to fly with confident captains, even if a silly hat is part of it.

Hat isn’t even an issue. Get rid of the stupid tie.
Especially with a short sleeve shirt. I never wear a tie; the stupid pilot shirt is bad enough, having to wear it a few times a month as is.

Wait wait wait, aren’t you the guy that’s always saying “what other parts of the FOM are you violating”? I suppose you’ve been wearing your hat since the merger as well?

Also this isn’t really that difficult of a conversation to have. You don’t have to be a dick about it. I figure enough captains make mention of it they’ll get tired of hearing about it and get the correct uniform pieces.

I like hats. They help since I'm bald and I think it completes the uniform nicely, especially with the blazer. And I don't say that just to get a job at my current air line. I wore the hat at F9 too. But I also wore the striped tie and cowboy boots. I like to keep people on their toes with mixed signals.
