Airspace Violations

Not surprising...I know one of the main reasons they shrunk the DC ADIZ was because of how much it was costing them to deal with all the inadvertent violations

It's interesting to see that it's not just the weekend warriors that are busting the airspace.

I'd call it a rare opportunity :D

I'd snap a pic and add a comment like "my wingman and I"

oooooooh that would SUCK.

Instructing in that general area certainly creates an unhealthy paranoia about situational awareness and proper transponder use. I'm so glad I did it.

Up until today, I instructed in the adiz everyday. The best change they made to the adiz was making it a 30 dme from DCA vortac. Before it used to go along with the class bravos and there was no way to know its beginning unless you had GPS or where trained in the area and know the landmarks.

yeah; it was saadly humorous when phil talked about a viloation at 12:20 the day of this past fly in.

he said that a person violated the adiz, got shook up with an escort, turned north and blew into P-40. How bad does that suck to violate the ADIZ and P-40 in one flight?

Yup i definitely don't think the effort violating all of those people is worth the warm fuzzy feeling some people get from being safe from a 152. I'm glad i got to experience instructing in the ADIZ. What i really gained from it was to be very defensive with ATC (probably not the best thing). Wouldn't let them get away with just a "Roger" when i was checking in VFR. Didn't want to lose my certs because of a bad transponder and the controller was to busy working IFR traffic.

Ugh, I've been trying to get ahold of those guys for NINE MONTHS!!! This guy makes a normal flight and gets an invitation???

The FSDO in Maine handles all the ADIZ, FRZ and class B airspace violations. The local FSDO (Dulles) is unable to handle the large volume.

I instruct out of a airport located in the FRZ. About once a week I hear a controller chasing some poor errant pilot out of the Class B or the ADIZ.

If you fly in here, its ZERO tolerance folks.
