Southern California Edison Chino, California:<BR /><div>Join the Clean Energy Revolution Become an Airspace Coordinator Senior Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. </div><div><ul><li>This role is new in Aircraft Operations and is a tactical one that deconflicts airspace between a fleet of 6 SCE owned helicopters, 14+ contract helicopter operators, and 200+ UAS with existing Aircraft Operations, Major Project Organization work, and other imaging aircraft operation of behalf of SCE. </li><li>Most of the aircraft working on behalf of SCE are operating below 1,000 feet around SCE Transmission and Distribution assets. </li><li> This role is safety driven to provide separation and awareness between helicopters and drones when aircraft will be working in the same general area to prevent near misses and a mid-air collision. </li><li>This role needs a complete understanding of the National Airspace System, Google Earth, ArcGIS systems, and Microsoft 10. </li><li>In this job, you&#8217;ll need to be able to work with minimum instruction on the day-to-day tasks, independently as well as in a team environment, resolving real time conflicts that without strong decision-making skills will result in major program delays and have severe safety implications. </li><li>With this position being a new role, the individual will be instrumental in refining existing processes and procedures as well as developing and growing the position based on department and company&#8217;s strategies. </li><li>As a Senior Specialist, your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. </li></ul></div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Are you ready to take on the challenge to help us build the future? A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright! Exercise judgement and discretion to advise, review, and approve or recommend courses of action regarding flight requests from Aerial Imaging Group and compose and distribute Situational Reports (Sit Reps) showing the geographical areas of where the helicopter and UAS flights are taking place. </div><div><ul><li>The Airspace Coordinator will lead weekly Look Ahead meetings with the Aerial Imaging vendors to go over the coming schedule of flights and mitigate any conflicts of airspace ahead of time. </li><li>Conduct a bi-annual audit of the confidential email recipient list for the Sit Reps. </li><li>De-conflict airspace between helicopters and Unmanned Aircraft Systems utilizing flight tracking software along with Google Earth Pro, ArcGIS, and KMZ files. Resolving day-to-day urgent and time sensitive conflicts that are ever changing. </li><li>Pop-up patrols, last minute flight plans, and major projects are common factors that contribute to the reason for the urgent schedule change. </li><li>Time is critical when a Lock Out or Public Safety Power Shut-Off (PSPS) Patrol is needed to restore power to customers and requires a spot decision to determine which flights may need to be stood down and/or notify the existing flights in that affected area to ensure the safe operation of flight for all individuals involved.</li><li> Real time tracking of aircraft allows the Airspace Coordinator to resume operations in those areas where work was stopped for the priority flight in the spirit of efficiency and productivity. </li><li>Coordinate and notify departments outside of Aircraft Operation within SCE such as T&amp;D Aerial Inspections, Environmental Services, Government Lands, Major Projects, and Public Affairs as well as governing agencies such as National Forests and Parks, local Law Enforcement, Tribal Nations, and other sensitive areas as many of these entities require their approval for clearances, to fly through the airspace over their land, or as a courtesy notification in the proactive attempt that customer complaints/calls are received. </li><li>Monitor/Manage Check-ins with Contractors daily and update their status on daily flight cards as well as follow up on flights that have not checked-in to confirm their status and notate cancellations with the appropriate reason for the cancellation. </li><li>Back up to Dispatch on Radios, Flight Following, and answering phones. </li><li>Fill out Aircraft Operations Flight Cards with the schedule of flights for the day for both internal and external aircraft. </li></ul></div><div>&nbsp;</div>
