"Airplane Repo" on Discovery TV

That was an hour of my life that I'll never get back. A repo guy from Gary, IN is followed around as he repossesses a G200 and Learjet 31, with the announcer speaking constantly in dramatic, hushed tones about the associated life & death risks.

Anyone have experience doing this? Isnt it mostly online research to locate the aircraft, a little stealthy ground ops, an A&P and type-rated crew?

That show is so boring. I think 99% of the show is about how much of a lavish life that guy has... and the other 1% is about that annoying lady making it seem like she's in the navy seals by sneaking into FBO's even though they're open...

THese guys couldnt pay me enough to be a contract pilot for one day, to go pick up an airplane with flat tires and birds nests in it.

I read an article about Popovich a while back, IIRC it talked about him being held at gunpoint by neo-nazi skin heads in the south and all kinds of crazy stuff. Cool to see Discovery did a TV show about him, although it probably won't be as crazy as the stories from the good ol' days.

I thought it had potential to be a good show, but they should've focused more on the airliner side of it rather than the private jets. Also the "Advanced tracking software" looked oddly similar to FlightAware...

My favorite episode was when he sent his db kid to stalk a Hawker 600 that looked like it hadn't moved in over a year. The airplane was repo'd in place for scrap. But only after the repo team "snuck in" to Banyan at FXE.

Complaint about a show with airplanes is a lot like complaining about boobs. Wouldn't you rather be looking at boobs than NOT be looking at boobs? I don't get it.

I saw one where they relord some A320s that was pretty cool.

You need to remember, pilots complain worse than 99% of the women I've met. They complain about how much they make, duty time, work rules, MX, Management, Hotels, etc, etc, etc... They're darn sure going to complain about a TV show that is designed to be entertaining and NOT completly accurate as to SOPs that they happen to be acostumed to.

I'm just going to go out on a limb and say that 99% of them havn't had to hand dig and tamp post holes in 100 degree heat or 20 degree weather all day to earn a living...

Lol, YES! I'm a 1%'er :D finally! Must be that "I am a pilot ego thingy" which I don't have. Your right, a lot of pilots sound like spoiled Beaches;), and think they know it all.

I like the show... I appreciate the show. I honestly don't see why people are complaining either! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but you'd think that someone who loves airplanes, and the aviation industry would appreciate these shows FINALLY entering mainstream television and support it. This show gave me a perspective of the aviation industry I never knew existed. I want to see more AVIATION related television shows on T.V. I find them very interesting, fascinating, and educational. This is a pretty cool show, as well as Wild Alaska, Ice Pilots, and The Aviators.

I love and will always love and promote aviation. There are always things to complain about in life; these trailblazing shows aren't! Some of ya'll have lost that "I LOVE AVIATION & AIRPLANE" spark... Some of ya'll probably never had it.

Listen, I use to watch WINGS, and PENSACOLA WINGS OF GOLD just for the aviation scenes... I could complain about those shows but that would be an Oxymoron. They were the only shows on that showed anything aviation related.

I want to see more aviation related shows airing on T.V... I know for a fact they motivate the younger generation coming behind me!

I remember the original reason we got digital cable was so I could get Discovery Wings, which got replaced by the military channel a few weeks later  I love Flying Wild Alaska though, just this show was sort of iffy for me.
