Airplane jobs you would like to do... but not forever.

Just ran across this article and was thinking that it would be cool to do that for a while. My list of jobs that I think would be cool, but to a point before it may become mundane are as follows:

Powerline patrol
Fish patrol
Traffic watch
Photo surveillance
Dropping meat rockets
Draggin rags

I used to chase UAV's for a bit, which was a blast at first. Good opportunity to develop stick and rudder skills, formation flying, and to test my endurance for doing circles over the desert on 115 degree+ days. The last part eventually got old and what made the job mundane. Anyways, that job got me thinking about doing the other jobs and how I could see they would be fun at the beginning but could develop into mundane. Maybe I'm wrong. If you've done said jobs, chime in and give us a peak into what they might be like on a day to day basis for an extended period of time. Was it mundane? Was it the pay elsewhere that got you to move on? SJS?

yeah im actually solidifying a gig right now, supposed to get an offer from them this week and then head over there early June if the terms look good to me.

finally getting out of this rat race!

Banner towing... Yeah, doesn't sound too glamorous but it'd be fun to just fly up and down the beaches... For a while

Oh wow. Ya know, when you said "I wanna" I took that as in how I wanna do that... (but in all reality, I wont) whereas... your taking that to the "T".

I'd take an LOA from where I'm at to do this for a year. In fact, in a heartbeat.

I think all flying jobs start out fun and exciting, only to become mundane after a while. Nature of the biz

I'm a little more curious about listed jobs above. Right now, I enjoy the flying I do. Hand flying an approach into crappy weather everyday would get old, but everyonce in a while adds a little spice in the relationship. A snowcovered ramp and plane is something I look forward to, on occcation. Although the fresh powder would be put to better use under my board. The days when everything seems a little mundane I try to find a challenge that will improve my flying skills.

I know it's not flying... but ramp.

Not a bad way to work through your ratings but the novelty of chucking suitcases in the freezing rain at 4am under a screaming APU starts to wear off. Honestly any kind of flying job is an improvement.

Pipe Line Patrol.

I know I would love it like a mad man for two weeks and on the third week think..'ah shucks'.
