Airnet new hire

Not a child of magenta
I have been lurking on here for awhile and finally decided to post something! I have a class date at Airnet coming very soon. I have read the gouges and have heard what goes on in training. Seems like all you have to do is show up and prepare for the fire hose! Is everyone staying pretty busy over there lately? Who all on here is currently with Airnet? Anyone else on here starting class with them soon?

Thanks!

Congratulations! I have really enjoyed my time here, and despite some of the turmoil in the past few years, it's still a good place to build quality experience. As far as class goes, memorize the AirNet profiles and study hard and you'll do just fine. Good luck!

They do the flight training at night. Like 2 in the morning at night. Or at least thats how it was when I was there. Drink from a fire hose, if you can drive do it. You stay at a extended stay about 15 min away. Make sure to sign up for the rewards at the beginning. Wished I did that. Indoc is pretty strait forward, just do your homework at night. Take at least one day off to do something outside of study. Classmate and I went to an aviation museum in dayton. If you have time MEMORIZE those procedures. It will save your butt in the sims, because you will be very busy trying to keep the Fraska upright. Just give it a 110%. Sorry this is random. Just everything coming back to me.

Lastly, welcome to the forum! Introduce yourself.

Airnet is hiring now? I've had my app in with them for a few years updated. Now i'm flying survey all over the country with an ATP in hand, go figure.

Yup. They tried to get me in for an interview but I had to decline. I asked some hard questions and didn't like the answers. Mainly, they don't look to grow or procure any new stuff to haul as their checks start to dwindle. To me that means more company shrinkage in the future.

That was back in October. What happened since then could have changed, but it didn't sound like there was much growth potential. I know they just picked up some hazardous material cargo, but when I asked if they were looking to expand on that or into any other market the answer was no.

Just a side note. I have nothing against the freight world but I would like to go somewhere where I can get some movement into some twin turbine stuff. AMF comes to mind. Been thinking about tossing an app in at AMF but wanted to see how the "good" regionals would bite with my current times.

Yeah the regionals "good ones" are hiring. interesting questions though, it's all a gamble!

Maurus, a good thought to consider (if you haven't already), is where do you want to go with your career. It seems (but not always the case) that most regionals guys stay in the 121 world going up to the majors. Most guys that go freight move onto things like charter, air ambulance, or other freight companies. In the short time I've been in the aviation industry and have had experiance with those "other" flying jobs, it's a bit of a challenge to from a regional to freight, air ambulance and my guess would be charter (if someone in the charter business would chime in on that, I would be interested in the answer/being corrected). So just another thing to think about in regards to going AMF or SKY/ASA/AE etc.

True. My problem is that I am running out of time. I am backed into a corner as a major asset for me will be gone anywhere from a month to a year from now. Options are kinda running low hence the reason why I can't wait on finding that corporate gig I have been looking for. Been trying to get interviews at the "good" regionals out there with not much luck other than AE but I messed that up. Learned a lot from it though.

I was picky with Airnet because if I was stuck in a baron with no movement I would max out just under 30k a year starting in year 3. Year two pay is typically ~34K for the "good" regionals not including any bonus pay for getting JMed or picking up an extra leg. Just trying to find the best job for the position I am in. I am thinking about trying out AMF here soon. We will see.

Maybe the hairnet has cut pay drastically, but I think ambitious new hires were doing better than 30k back when I was looking at them, years ago. YMMV, etc etc.

It does appear Airnet's pay is a bit more complex than what is posted elsewhere. Was going by the monthly salary they posted. I am also working on the assumption that you will be stuck in a prop indefinitely as the Lear fleet has shrunk and there has appeared to be a lack of growth.

Looks like Airnet started a specialty service now for overnight delivery of packages. Kind of a small competition with Fedex/UPS.

Lets just say the recruiter didn't sell the company very well to me when I was talking with them. He actually said that they were just looking to "maintain the status quo" indefinitely.
