CNN

According to the media it skidded off the runway, and is now on fire. They also say 200pax on board.

Re: Lufthansa accident in Toronto

CNN is reporting it's a "huge 737" but then another reporter corrected Wolf saying that it's probably an A330, but no details yet.

Apparently 200 aboard?

Re: Lufthansa accident in Toronto

Yeah, so far it's an Air France Luftansa 240pax carrying 737 that just came in from an international flight.

So maybe not Luftansa. If it changes to actually being Air France, can the subject be changed?

edit: nm, just did.

Re: Lufthansa accident in Toronto

Their saying an Air France passenger jet. FlyteComm shows one AF flight from Paris arriving at 4:07 EST, an A343.

Re: Lufthansa accident in Toronto

Once it's out of the hat, it doesn't matter what the title is changed to because people will reply to the mislabeled post.

Re: Lufthansa accident in Toronto

ITs believed to be an air france and it is believe up to 305 passengers were on board and it is an a340 and fire crew are having difficulty putting out the fire and being in toronto right now its raining pretty dam hard right now. The plane was trying to lland 24L. www.CBC.ca

Well, off with the television for me. Wolf's got it all figured out that it was severe weather and why would a widebody jet land in such conditions.

GRRRR....

so far I've heard it was a 737, a 767, and an A340 either Lufthansa or Air France. around 200 pax is the only thing that seems to be consistant from each report

I live in indiana, so it hit national television! And its a Air France, not sure on the casualties or the cause

I'll start the speculation:

Seems like windshear.

If im correct, wind shear is like a crosswind? If so, I dont believe thats what it is because the trees are hardly moving. I think the problem was hydroplaneing. Other than that, I would think they would start the takeoff before they hit V1. They couldnt do that because they probably hydroplaned and couldnt get control of the airplane.

Waaaay too much speculation based on having zero data.

Everything you're hearing on the news is a supposition based upon the DFW L1011 microburst accident which may or may not have any relevance to this accident.

I'll take whats behind Door #3......

Seriously, I hope everyone on board is ok.

That weather doesn't necessarily single-handedly cause an airplane to crash. If weather, as listed above, did, there'd be airliners strewn across the country in flames daily.

Besides, that's not all that bad. Looking at the gust factors, visibility stayed pretty good, winds aren't all that bad... I've landed in far worse than that with visibilities to the point that they're reporting RVRs.
