I suppose some people do it because they don't want to go out and blow a few interviews "just for practice."
What if your favorite airline calls you FIRST?

You take the job and go with who gives you the best opportunity at the time. It's very cliche, and I'll probably wreck it, but a bird in hand is worth two in the bush.
Besides, "favorite" airlines is a dynamic definition. At the time when I was looking to work at a regional, I
really wanted to work for WestAir and be based in Fresno because that's where I'm from. Brasilias up and down the west coast, watching the sun set over the Pacific was what I was looking for.
A few years later, they were playing chicken with Mesa/Larry Risely and were folded, dumped on the street and replaced with Skywest by United.
In a lot of ways, picking an airline is a short-term science, but a long-term crapshoot/roll-of-the-dice. I betchya Flying magazine won't tell ya THAT!
