Airline Discounts for Hotels

Perhaps this belongs in the NJC section but...

Anyone know (Doug :) ) what places hapen to offer an airline discount in Vegas. I've been a slacker and haven't snagged a room yet for NJC and I'm wondering if there are places with an airline discount that might work out to being a better value than using vegas.com or some other similar website. I believe Greek Isle is now full so that's out...

Thanks

well, i know that the accor hotels have some discounts but not sure there are any in vegas...marriott has some discounts, Le Meridien, Swissotel...

I'd say if any of your crew stays at a particular hotel while on layover in vegas (or any other city), that's really your best bet!

Here's the quick 'n easy:

Start calling hotels and ask them directly. Don't call the national reservations line, call the actual hotel.

Vegas is uber stingy on the airline employee discounts. Ever since the major studios purchased major shares of casino funds and crank out shows like CSI: Las Vegas and upped the "trendy/glitzy" level, deals are tight.

Start with hotels that airlines use for layovers. Even ask the office that arranges hotels for your layovers at your airline for a starter.

Which is ironic considering that it's filmed in LA - most of the location shots for Vegas are done by a second unit.

I have great success asking for something along the lines of the IBM rate, the Cisco rate, the Lowe's rate - pick your major corporation. Most of the time they don't bother to check those credentials. And if they do, I usually pull out a business card, mention that I'm a contractor and that the local office told me to ask for the rate. It's usually considerably less than "best" rates, y'know?
