Metropolitan’s mission is to provide its service area with adequate and reliable supplies of high quality water to meet current and future needs in an environmentally and economically responsible way. Metropolitan’s facilities include the 242-mile Colorado River Aqueduct, five conventional water treatment plants with a combined capacity of 2.6 billion gallons per day, nine surface water reservoirs, 830 miles of pipeline, and 16 hydroelectric power plants. AIRCRAFT PILOT The Metropolitan Water District’s Water System Operations Group currently has one (1) opening for an Aircraft Pilot at our Gene Pumping Plant located in Parker Dam, California, on the California/Arizona border.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><strong>JOB SUMMARY:</strong>&nbsp;</div><div>Metropolitan has two aircraft, a Beechcraft Baron 58 and a Cessna 208 Caravan. The Pilot will operate, schedule, and supervise maintenance of Metropolitan aircraft in order to provide personnel with timely, safe, and efficient air transportation. Provide emergency response, patrol, aerial photography, and public relations inspection trip services in support of regular and emergency operations. Transport equipment, materials, and supplies as needed. During &#8216;non-flying&#8217; hours, duties for this position include updating logs, processing transportation orders, processing flight requests, completing expense reports, assisting with budgeting, arranging/assisting with passenger ground transportation, and other duties as assigned.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><strong>JOB DUTIES:</strong> Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:<br /><ul><li>Operate aircraft in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations to provide safe and efficient transportation for individuals conducting Metropolitan business.</li><li>Coordinate maintenance and inspections to maximize availability, reliability, and safety of aircraft and to ensure compliance with FAA regulations. Evaluate the condition of aircraft and equipment. Recommend replacements or upgrades as required to maintain efficient and safe aircraft operation.</li><li>Schedule passenger and cargo flights to maximize efficient use of aircraft.</li><li>Assist in the planning, development, and monitoring of aircraft operations and maintenance budget to ensure the efficient use of resources and adherence to established guidelines.</li><li>Participate in (and successfully complete) annual training to ensure compliance with FAA regulations.</li><li>Maintain a high level of competence and safety as a pilot (while maintaining FAA currency).</li><li>Provide support services to other functions by conducting routine and emergency surveillance of the distribution system, taking aerial photographs, and transporting water samples from the desert facilities to water quality laboratories for timely testing of samples.</li><li>Conduct public relations inspection trips with government officials, media, or external agency representatives to represent Metropolitan’s interests in a positive manner.</li><li>Perform other related duties as required.</li></ul></div>
