Been hearing good things about Airborn Systems flight school in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. This is a part 141 school and I've heard here that part 141 and 61 don't really matter. They mention in the brochure that it is a cessna flight training center. It is also mentioned that their fleet is well mantained. Please go over this website and tell me what you guys think. Are cessna flight centers a good place to take lessons at? Any advice? Thanks!

Their rates seems to be much higher than other flight school I've seen around here. They do have a nice fleet though.

The rates seem to be pretty comparable to most places I've seen, especially since they have a pretty new fleet. Price is important, but not the biggest thing you should worry about. A huge thing I look for is a proper and professional maintenance program for their planes. I can't stress that enough. Don't take their word for it...go over there and find out.

As for a difference between Part 141 and Part 61...yes, it does matter. A more structured environment may help you learn better (Part 141), while Part 61 may hinder your progress (and vice versa, of course). The decision between 141 and 61 is up to how you're suited as a student.

Thanks RiddlePilot. I guess I wouldn't mind paying a little more but being safe while taking the flight lessons. I will go over there and see everything personally. As far as part 61 and 141, I don't really care. Either one sounds good. The only difference I guess would be the requirements? If I started at a 141 school could I transfer to a 61 school without any problems?

The requirements under 141 are going to be lower than Part 61, but that's not the only difference. As I said, the training environment is going to be different. Part 141 is more structured than Part 61. I really suggest discussing the differences between the school's 61 and 141 programs with an instructor there. Going into either program blindly is probably not a good idea.

Couldn't really answer that 100%, but the most likely thing is that you'll have to gain some more hours to meet Part 61 experience requirements. Your flight times will carry over, of course.

I'm not sure how many hours are going to carry over towards your training. I saw a paragraph in the beginning of the Jepp Syllabus that touched on switching parts.

Switching from 141 to 61, all of the flight hours will count. The only problem is that since part 141 has lower requirements for many things, you'll have to add some training after the switch.

Thanks for the responses. I guess I will just do some more research between part 141 and 61 around here. It seems like the schools that more people recommend here are part 141 schools.
