Federal Aviation Administration Herndon, Virginia:<BR /><p><em><strong>System Operations Security (AJR-2000) leads the Air Traffic Organization&39;s (ATO) operations-centric efforts in national defense, homeland security, law enforcement, disaster response, and other significant incident management arenas. AJR-2000&39;s Tactical Operations Group (AJR-2400) is responsible for the directorate&39;s front-line, tactical operations functions.</strong></em></p> <strong>Duties</strong> <p> <p>Incumbent performs complex, specialized air traffic control assignments directly involved with furnishing expertise in the day-to-day operation of the National Airspace System (NAS) to include coordination to ensure the safe, orderly and expeditious flow of the domestic, military and international air traffic.</p><p>Applies experience and expert technical knowledge of air traffic control procedures and operations as well as expert technical knowledge of the assigned specialty program area. Contacts are internal and external to the organization. As an Air Traffic Security Coordinator (ATSC) in the National Capital Region Coordination Center (NCRCC), will initiate coordination between the NCRCC and the Domestic Events Network (DEN), the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), and Continental United States NORAD Region<br> (CONR). Provide recommendations to ensure programs are compatible with FAA air traffic control (ATC) plans, policies and procedures. The work of this position directly affects the objectives of the ATO, other FAA organizations, major components of the aviation industry and other external organizations.</p><p>The ATSC is a recognized expert in the FAA and works independently and exercises broad discretion to ensure the work is integrated with organizational objectives and policies. Provide advice and technical guidance on interdiction issues and law enforcement air operations in order to ensure compliance with ATC plans, policies and procedures; and provide advice regarding operation capabilities and limitations of the FAA.</p><p>Address ATC procedures to effectively accomplish the global mission, both in peacetime training and actual tactical operations incident to war or threats of war. Familiar with the equipment and software interface required for air traffic data to be made readily available to law enforcement and Department of Defense (DOD) agencies previously listed. Advise interagency security partners of current policies, procedures, operational capabilities and limitations of the FAA.</p><p>Assists in the development, coordination and execution of detailed plans for security of air traffic and air navigation aids. Promote, support and participate in the FAA&39;s Equal Opportunity (EEO) program, helps to identify and resolve EEO problems and cooperates with EEO officials on rectifying problems and addressing EEO complaints. Performs other duties as assigned.</p><p>Broad policies and objectives provide general guidance for addressing issues but almost always require the development of new and innovative approaches. Often recommends new policies. Develops procedures and approaches. Considers FAA policies, government&shy;wide rules and regulations, and industry standards. Conceives, plans, and directs studies involving complex issues and unique problems. The work is reviewed for success in achieving desired results, effectiveness, and consonance with agency goals and objectives. Uses knowledge of FAA policies and objectives to identify, define, and organize work for multiple work activities.</p><p>Preform other duties as assigned.</p> </p>
