Maybe selling airliners to third world countries isn't such a good idea.

NEW DELHI: Amid rising aviation safety concerns over pilots' mental health, an Air India aircraft's cockpit witnessed some tense scenes between the captain and his deputy at Jaipur on Sunday evening just before the Airbus A-320 was to take off for Delhi. While numerous airline sources said that the co-pilot abused and beat up the commander, an AI spokesman said that "there was an argument between the two and nothing more."
The heated scenes were witnessed when AI 611 was getting ready to fly for Delhi. "The commander told his co-pilot to take down critical take off figures for the flight. This involves writing critical facts like number of passengers on board, take off weight and fuel uptake on a small paper card (trim sheet) that is displayed in front of the pilots for the entire duration of the flight. The co-pilot took offence at this and reportedly beat up the captain," said a source.

India is interesting.

I was just reading an article by a KLM 777 pilot saying when they get their clearance at Indian airports, all 3 pilots write down what they think the controller said and then compare notes before the pilot working the radios responds. This is because apparently if a crew has trouble understanding the Indian controllers English, it is common for them to take great offense, become angry, and then ignore the aircraft for 30-60 minutes before giving them "another chance".

"India is amazing".- @Minuteman

I never really had much of a problem with Indian controllers or clearances besides a lot of their departures sounding similar. BOFIN1A POKON1A all sound eerily similar, but you almost have to know what to expect, have your headsets on and trust but verify.

Once upon a time I was a flight instructor at an Indian dominated flight school. I was told that it is not uncommon for captains in India to verbally and occasionally physically abuse FO's, especially the FNG's. Though I often wished I could do the same as an instructor, it sounds to me like the FO grew a pair fought back.
