I got to ride in the cockpit for approach/landing into Athens a few weeks ago when I went to go visit my family. It was an awesome experience! Enjoy the photos/video....

The last photo is impressive. the worst accident in aviation was a taxi accident and I was often surprised at how few 10-9 charts I saw at big airports and this is just a 1 runway airport. Well done. Good CRM and error management.

LGAV actually has 2 runways....separated by 2 loooooooooong taxi ways...

As far as getting in the jumpseat, I had a friend at Air France email the crew a week before hand, and I also introduced myself to the purser as a commercial pilot in the States. The Captain asked to see my license before she let me inside....

Wow, that is pretty sweet!

Good luck making that work in the states though. :laff:

From what I gathered most airlines in Europe and the Middle East will allow it under the discretion of the captain. However, I know for a fact that on a BA/VS and probably LH it is close to impossible if not strictly not allowed.

No way in heck (no matter how advanced the airplane) am I going to sit back and stand for the plane calling me a retard at 10 feet while in the flare.....:rotfl:thats a violation of sterile :p

Great shots, I did the same when I was flying from Rome to Split in Croatia this summer on an A320. Asked at the gate beforehand and showed them my license!

Honestly, I don't even think you need to know a guy who knows a guy :D I got the impression the crew didn't even see the email! All I did was during boarding I hung back in the galley and asked the maitre de cabine if I could talk to the pilots about jumpseating (and that I was a pilot in the States). The worst they'll say is no...
