Air Force OTS Question

What are the things the Air Force are looking for in Officer applicants? And what are the things that disqual? Ideally I would like to fly heavies for the AF, but I'd do any job they need me to do. I'm really wanting to become an engineer as well and an AF lifer I know told me that I should talk to a recruiter. I've never bothered even trying to apply because I've had ankle surgery and thought I could never get in, but an AF MP I just had turkey dinner with told me he had both knees rebuilt before ever enlisting, so I think there may be hope for me yet to get in! Always wanted to serve and I'm thinking I'm going to start looking into it. Oh, and I already have a 4 year degree from OSU so I meet that requirement, and I meet the ht/wt requirement too :)

High battery score, good recommendations, health, team player, and I'm sure there is more. Air force has a live chat on their website, try it out.

By the way thanks for giving me the chance to fly in your piece of crap N25OSU aircraft:)

I would suggest looking around Baseops.net and their forums. Wantscheck.com is along a good source of info for the Air Force.

HAHA, while I've seen that p.o.s., I've never flown it... I actually went to OSU-Tulsa and did all of my flight training from Tulsa Community College where we had excellent aircraft.

Their live chat is worthless - they just take your info and send it to a recruiter. They don't really answer anything.

That really is the best answer. Go to an Air Force OFFICER recruiter and get all of your answers from the source instead of a third party.

Assuming you already have a degree, most of those answers, specifically DQ questions can be answered by an AF Officer recruiter. BTW, we don't have MP's in the AF, they are called Security Forces or Security Police (SF or SP respectively). Good luck.

Good asvab score and flight aptitude test, security clearance eligibility (good credit score, no criminal record) and certain age limitation apply - I think you have to be commissioned by 29 or so.

34 is the cutoff for a commission. Even if you have an undergrad degree, it may well be possible to get a Master's degree and go the AFROTC route. It would at least be worth talking to a detachment commander first.

asvab score won't matter, the AFOQT is the test you take.

I think it's 35 for non rated, 30 for rated positions now. Again, an officer recruiter would be the way to go to answer any questions.
