I thought AF2 was the second 747?
AF2 is whatever the VP is flying in. AF1 is whatever the president is in.

Not entirely true.
This only applies if they are being flown in/by Air Force equipment and personnel.
Are you sure?

The helicopter you see land on the White House lawn is "Marine One" when the President is on board, and the VH-60s that travel with him abroad are "Army One" under the same conditions.
When first lady Clinton traveled to Iraq, the Army pilots that flew her were reprimanded for making up and using the call sign "Broomstick One". You have to appreciate the nuts it took to do that!
Thanks for clearing that up. I'm still learning. It all makes sense now.
Yep. AF assets only. If on a civilian airplane it then becomes "Executive One".
I remember seeing what I believe was this 757 doing touch and gos in CHO (Charlottesville VA, I hate using obscure airport identifiers). I always thought that was pretty cool.
I always thought it would be fun if the President took up learning to fly. Be pretty fun to practice stalls with a couple of helo escorts.

I saw it doing the same. Although, it seem like it was Lexington, but I can't remember. Either way, it was cool to see.
They go out all the time to practice under the "Venus" callsign when the VIP's aren't aboard. Kinda funny to call traffic and hear the other pilots say "is that what I think it is?" "Yes, but not really"
Also if you are ever driving on the Capital Beltway by Andrews AFB occasionally you'll see the 747 doing pattern work.
