Hello all I am a licensed A&P Mechanic and for some side money I clean aircraft. I live in phx. If you in this area and are in need of this service. Please contact me here and we can chat from there. Thanks and have a good one.:)

whan I did this, there was an awesome product that AA uses on their airplanes. It cleans and waxes at the same time - removed even the toughest oil and bugs. It was about $100 bottle, but well worth it considering the time saved. I'm sorry I cant remember the name of the product, but so much better than the average stuff you can get from detail shops. It was grey thats all i can remember.

That sounds like AeroGlaze, which is what I used to use. Although I did keep switching between CarbonX and Calla 800 for degreasers.

I have been thinking about doing this for some side money also...I detail cars @ work all the time....What would be a fair price for a small single engine?

Dawn dish soap seemed to work well for me. And, then, if that didn't work, and degrease stuff didn't work, I'd go for the low lead. For some reason, it worked really well, just don't let the EPA find you doing it. It didn't take a lot, but it seemed to work well.

I don't know about where you guys fly but someone tried this at both ashland and skypark and it didnt work out well. Most airplane owners I know like to wash the airplanes themselves. Mostly because they dont like other people touching their airplanes.

I did it some in cincinnati while in school. Just tryin to get a few extra bucks in there hard time ya know.

That really all depends on the services you offer and the airplane. A 150 isn't nearly as much work as a Cherokee 6 or Bonanza. Then you have things like Wet v. Dry wash, whether or not you do an interior detail and etc.

You'll also want to be careful about what you use on the airplane. Some owners want UV protectant. Non-corrosive cleaners are also important. Any sort of brightwork brings in a whole different spectrum of prices.

Yes it does and me myself and I can also offer other things, like lite MX work sense I have an A&P. So while I clean I can be looking and or fix possiable problems. 2 in 1 deal. :rawk:
