Ah yes...more financial aid questions....

Hey guys....
a quick question here...

A good friend of mine's been having trouble getting loans to cover for his college/flying expenses. Mainly because of a past filed bankruptcy....

As of now, I've noticed he's applied to at least nine different lenders....none of which have approved a loan. It kinda sucks because without a loan, he'd have no way of attending another semester at UND to fly.

He's talked with financial aid advisors from the school but none seem to be able to help.

I thought I should just post the question up here, and ask if any of you know of any lenders that might be easier to obtain a loan from...

Thanks in advance for any info that may be posted. I looked at previous threads here regarding loans, but couldn't quite find any suitable to the situation.

Won't even begin to cover the costs at a school like UND or Riddle.....

Yeah man i had some trouble getting my loan and had a few different cosigners that all failed. What i did was just have my uncle write a letter telling them why there was a problem with his report and two days later i was a aproved. But when you say a friend has had trouble you really mean yourself right?

Yeah seriously, those loans only cover $5,500 a YEAR. Even with me being an in state student that barely covers the cost of tuition for me.

Since he's been turned down, make sure he gets a copy of his credit report. There might be more going on there than just the bankruptcy. Was it a CH 13 or a CH 7? If it was a CH 13, he's kinda in limbo until it's paid off.

I generally find at LEAST one problem on my credit report everytime I check it. Last time, my flight training loan was listed THREE times, all of them as separate loans. Seem someone forgot to fill out the proper paperwork showing that the loan was "sold" to different creditors. So, it was showing that I owed over $50K when it was more like $15K.

Alrighty guys, thanks for the replies so far. I've showed'em to him, and told him to join JC.

That way, he might be able to provide better details.

Nope! Sorry. My loans are taken care of. I have PLUS loans through Sallie Mae.
