AGI Exam question

I have been studying to take the AGI exam. I keep getting questions for helicopter, glider and balloon operations. Are these questions actually on the AGI test for airplane? And for those of you who have taken the AGI exam did it affect the outcome if they were on the test? Thanks!

I took the AGI last month and didn't get any questions like those on mine, it was all fixed-wing airplane questions. When you said you, "keep getting questions..." what did you mean? Are you taking practice exams online somewhere?

Its a online test question bank for all the pilot web exams. Maybe its just this site that has them all lumped together. I have used this site to study for most of my other writtens to. I was just worried because I don't know anything about helos, ballons or glider operations with regards to the questions they were asking.

AGI and FIA tests come from the same faa question bank. The only difference is the AGI has 12 or so questions that the FIA doesn't have. Theses are the ones that have helicopter and ballon subjects......... The writtens for a CFI are FIA and FOI. If you want a ground instructor certificate for whatever reason like you want a Gold Seal on your CFI certificate (after so many of your students pass their checkride 1st time) you need to take the AGI. That will be 3 tests total and boy are they getting expensive. Hope this helps.

I didn't have, nor have I heard of anybody seeing any helicopter questions on the AGI. However, one of our students recently took the IGI and did have a helicopter question. It was unexpected and he was the first person I've heard of to see a helo question on the actual exam.

I stand corrected. I dug out the old Gleim's Flt/Grd Instructor study guide and there are no helicopter or ballon questions. It might of been on the IGI, like you said. The AGI questions seem to be mainly on certificate, definitions and a Part 121 question. In any case, there seems to be only a handful of questions on the AGI test that isn't on the flight instructor test.

I took my AGI back in February in order to get my Gold Seal. I got Helicopter questions, but I already knew I might. I took a quick ASA Helicopter DVD and was set. The balloon questions threw me off though.

This from Wikipedia:

"The Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI) rating allows the holder to give the ground instruction required for any certificate or rating issued under Part 61, to give the ground training for any flight review, and to approve a student to take the written knowledge test for any certificate or rating issued under Part 61"

There is your answer.
