Anyone ever use the aftermarket ANR upgrade from headsets inc.? I have an old pair of DC 13.4's I would like to upgrade to ANR, but I don't wanna void the great DC warranty. Does anyone have any exp. with these kits, or know if it will void the warranty?

maybe I should just sell em and get the 13X, any opinions?

thanks-

RPM:

I installed the kit and have used it for about 2 years before switching to Pilot Communications Independence PA1779 Series headsets.

The KIT works as advertised and requires and average level mechancial / electrical ability to install. It will take you 1-3 hours to install depending on your skill level.

The KIT adds Nice ANR ability to your 13.4's without the $500+ cost.

The only two downsides are they it will eat 9V batteries in extremely noisy cockpits (about 20 hours), the LED indicator isn't that accurate of battery life (show a dead battery many hours before it will quit). The connection to the battery pack is fragile. All these problems are easily overcome. I soldered my power cord directly to the internal connections on the power box (20 minutes of work). The battery problem is solved by carrying an extra battery or two with you and using rechargeable batteries. This way the short life (20-25 hours) won't matter.

If you have any questions feel free to send me a PM.

If you want to consider some great headsets with great options check out the following site:

I have used this headset for the last year and a half in various aircraft with great results (C-172RG, EMB-110, L-25, SF-340). The company also stands behind their products. I have sent them back a couple of times for minor problems (once because I broke them) and the company fixed them for just the cost of shipping.

The only problem I've had is the fragility of the connector which has been previously stated. I rather like the kit. I had a friend install it. Only cost me a bottle of gin. You can also, I believe, send in your headset and they'll install it for you.

I don't think I would have any trouble installing the kit, just wondering if it worked good. Thanks for the replies.

Have any idea if it voided the DC warranty?

Not sure, but based on common sense and some experience, I would think no, so long as the warranted item isn't related to the noise cancellation. Say, for example, that your mike boom broke or your headband broke. I think David Clark would still fix it.
