Aeroflight Anyone?

But wait, don't you want to hear the opinions of all of the rest of us who haven't worked there but know a guy who knows a guy? ;)

*bump*

I hate to dig up my own post from 2 months ago, but back in early April, Aeroflight was looking for pilots at my local airport. I applied because I've been out of a job (still am), it is local and I could be home every night. I submitted my resume on April 7, then followed up on April 22 and got an email back from the Chief Pilot on April 28 telling me the position is filled. So, today out of blue I get an email (2 months later) from the Chief Pilot telling me they are still looking at their options and won't be making a decision until mid-July?? Huh?

Should I consider this a red light? I find it a bit strange. Maybe I'm thinking it is such a crappy place to work, the guys just recently hired have already bailed? Now, unless they are expanding....

Should I email the CP back and tell him that I received an email from him 2 months ago telling me the positions were filled? Thoughts?

Also, from doing some research, I have read they require a one year commitment and the pay is $85/day. Now, I don't know much about 135 Cargo, and unless the pay has changed, but that seems pretty low. I'd like to do 135 and I need a job BAD (5 months unemployed already). Thoughts?

You need a job.
They are considering hiring you.

What do you want the rest of us to spell out?

$85 a day... Wonder how long the days are.
:yeahthat:

I would send the CP an email back and ask for clarification about the email from before stating that the position was filled... And if that has changed, I would ask why... Seeing as it is such a short period of time.

Thanks for the replies. I send the CP an email back. I also just got a call from Ameriflight to come in for an interview.

$85/hr sucks, they used to pay more according to their website. However, congrats on the AMF interview!!!

There's twenty four hours in a day. My experience with small companies who pay a fixed salary is that they tend to want to turn as many of those twenty four hours into work as is humanly possible. I'm assuming they're a 135 operator so they'll be subject to duty time limitations. But I would also expect them to know every trick in the book to allow them to skirt/ignore those limitations as much as possible.

Low pay, seemingly high employee turnover rate, sounds like a lovely place to work. But you need a job and they're interested so you might as well go for it. At least you know what you're probably getting yourself into going in.

I wouldn't ask about the previous email or why the position opened up so quickly unless you want to annoy your potential future employer before you ever get the job.

For what plane?

I was told they are hiring for PA-31 PDX/OAK

Teeny tiny glimmer of the light at the end of the tunnel! :rawk:

They have new-hires classes scheduled for July 27, August 24 and September 21. Of course, always subject to change, but that is what I have been told by HR this morning.

Also, I will be interviewing in SLC, still waiting to hear from the ACP to set-up a date. Anyone recently interviewed in SLC?

Yeah, I could have also gone to PDX, SEA or OAK. All of them are roughly the same flight time from BOI. I chose SLC, because I still have flight benefits with Delta, and if that doesn't work out I can always buy a ticket on Southwest, and if that doesn't work out, I'll just do the 5 hr. drive down to SLC.
