Just got this in my email, sucks.

Due to the current economic situation and market conditions, American Eagle Airlines has discontinued interviewing and hiring pilots at this time. We have also cancelled all upcoming job fairs. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused.
We will continue to accept applications on www.AirlineApps.com. We do not know when interviewing will resume, but we advise interested applicants to check our website at www.americaneaglecareers.com or www.flyeagle.jobs for future updates.

Is this a suprise? They are parking 29 planes so about 300 pilots are going to be displaced. I talked to a 7 year eagle FO who was had his heart ripped out when this was announced because he was going to upgrade later this year. Before I feel bad for one person losing their interview I feel bad for those that are being displaced, downgraded, and stagnant.:banghead:

Got it too. No surprise there. I did, however, almost simultaneously get a notice that Colgan is hiring . . . The funny thing is I decided to opt out of the airline pilot career track thing for a while and teach. Now I'm at a 141 school and having a great time. A month ago I might have shot a resume to Colgan, but now I'm thinking I might just wait a while.

Sad, but oh-so-true!

We have a BUNCH of seven & eight-year FO's who were due to upgrade this summer and got the carpet ripped out from under them..... AGAIN!

For many of those pilots, it's the third (plus?) time it's happend to them:

1. Many thought they were close to upgrading shortly before 9/11 - didn't happen;

2. Many had class dates for SF3 upgrades LAST FALL = Canceled;

3. Now this.

It's a rough time to be in the airline industry anywhere!

Best of luck to the long-term FO's and the FO's-to-be!!

It'll smooth out.....one day. Let's hope it's sooner rather than later.

I was jumpseating with a new AE captain who said they would likely displace him back to FO. He wasn't feeling the warm and fuzzies about his situation.
