Adding Additional Information to Medical (DWI)

Let me start out by saying that the advice of the doc here has been very helpful and provides much needed insight into how the FAA runs this part of the show. What that being said, I'm in need of a little more advice with my current situation.

In short, I got a DWI when I was 16 and failed to disclose it when I applied for my first class medical at the age 21. I took the advice of a aviation professional and didn't declare it, his reason for this was because "I was a minor and there shouldn't be any record of it". Now that I'm active in aviation, I realize I took the wrong advice. I decided to correct the situation. I sent the FAA medical division an update to that specific question about 2 months ago, explaining everything that happened, ut haven't heard anything from them yet. I have been afraid to fly for the last 2 months (I'm a commercial student) because I do not want my cert's revoked, and have to start all over...wasting a lot of time and money. I'm now getting anxious and would like to resume my training, but I still haven't heard back from the FAA. What are the odds they will just add this information to my medical, and not revoke my certificate? I hope that my honesty and proactive approach to the situation is regarded as a good deed and they take it easy on me.

They will most likely just enter it in your file. The most they will do is send you a letter telling you to not drink any more. I doubt since you were 16, they will ask for copies of the legal records - they would have done that by now.
