Hey Yall check out this site.

There is info on the old Pan Am seaplane bases at Maimi, Baltimore, and NY. Plenty of info and pictures of WW2 airbases all over the country. Pancho Barnes' fly in ranch. Check out your local area, I'll bet that there was an airport nearby that you never knew about.
My personal favorite is the curved runway in WV.

I found it awhile back and found it fascinating reading. You can look up some famous and plenty not so famous old airports. Some are completely destroyed, some are completely useable. If you have any information about any of these fields or any new ones, E-mail the author, and he will include your information. He has said that he would also appreciate any old sectionals and other refrences if you have them.
