The president of the American Airlines pilots union is blasting the airline for an “on the cheap” philosophy, and ranking it below Delta and United for employee relations, after a series of contractual disputes.

“We have all witnessed a culture gone awry,” Keith Wilson, president of the Allied Pilots Association, wrote Saturday in a letter to the airline’s 15,000 pilots.

Yes, but Wilson's answer to fixing the problems is a strongly-worded (for him, at least) e-mail directed to no one in particular. The substance of that e-mail is just to point out all the problems we have and no solutions to fix them. The APA is weak and broken. LUS problems don't matter. We're beyond a fractured group. Things will get worse before they get better.

I don't blame Parker for anything. I don't expect anything that isn't contractually required.

People voted yes on this.

Don't vote yes unless it has what you want on it, simple as that. I would have much rather had 3 years of an arbitrated contract with an arbitrated implementation schedule. Instead we have 5 years of being behind. It is what it is. Hopefully in 2019 we have a better negotiating team. And flipping the switch to alpa while the same people are running the show (see USAPA) will get nothing accomplished. We need younger blood in the room.

That being said, it isn't as bad as people say :) I was done by the 18th of the month with 87 hours. Im a complete bid sheet rider.

Nah, that would probably be "kill". I haven't made a lot of friends over the last few weeks at other airlines. Derp.

Eeeeyup.

Heartwarming video for some, a nostalgic peek into a time capsule for others, and a very small, but vocal, handful of people felt owned by a pre-teen.
I still don't believe the kid actually /likes/ the EMB-110, but it's really quite kickass to see Derg-of-either-color at age 12.

Other than the paycheck, this place feels like Mesa now. LUS was a breath of fresh air a couple years ago, but that has all but gone awAAy.

I agree 100%! When I got hired at US Airways, I felt like I was in a dream world. Schedulers were friendly and helpful. Chief Pilots did awesome things to help you out when you needed it. Every time the phone rang on reserve, it wasn't a constant battle. You were treated like a human being. The pay might have sucked, but man, the culture ruled.

All that changed when PIT OCC shut down. The new guy running the scheduling department hates labor and stands there in Crew News sessions with his smug grin, just dreaming about how he can make our lives miserable.

The other side of the house won't listen to what we have to say because it wasn't invented in their world and is therefore useless and irrelevant. The AArogance that comes from that side of APA is astounding.

That is probably the single biggest problem we as a pilot group are facing. LUS doesn't matter and they don't cAAre.

I'm celebrating my 3-year anniversary being hired at US Airways this month. Within the past year (or even less than that), I've gone from someone that loved my job every day and loved where I worked to being bitter, hate-filled and dreading coming in. I'll always be proud to say I came from US Airways. I'm not current proud to tell people I work at American.

I understand there was new and younger blood willing to serve this last time. Unfortunately, I heard they were basically bullied into dropping out.
