AABI (Aviation Accreditation Board International) Question

Smartass
I was looking at the December edition of the Flight Training magazine by AOPA, and in that edition it names the aviation universities for 2011. Some universities have AABI (Aviation Accreditation Board International). Do universities that are not AABI approved still good, e.g. Ohio State?
Also, does UAA say anything about the university? If they don't have it, should I still consider them?
Thank you

Re: AABI (Aviation Accreditation Board International) Questi

AABI is specifically a aviation college accrediting group, similar to other school accrediting agencies. I doubt if a school is any better or worse because of it.

Nope, it doesnt matter.. you get the same ratings either way

I don't think it would matter a lot as long as the school was accredited by someone. A lot of forms/applications look for a degree from an accredited institution or enrollment in an accredited program. The accrediting body doesn't really matter as far as I know.

Make sure the school you are attending is regionally accredited. Also, there may be some relief coming down the pipe from the HR 5900 ATP requirement if you go to an AABI accredited school. There was a Wall Street Journal article late last year that leaked the final rule indicating a 1000 hour credit toward the ATP requirement if a student comes from an AABI accredited school. Who knows if that will become the law though. The final rule is due in June...we'll all know then.
