AA owned regionals

AA has announced what sounds like a substantial pilot pay boost at PSA and Envoy. Do you think they will offer something similar for other ops groups, including dispatch?

Unlikely. There is no shortage of dispatchers with a pulse applying to those places.

No way! Too many dispatchers floating around the system! We be poor forever!
.. We were just talking about it at my shop. How a brand new (wholly owned) FO makes a lot more now than a topped out regional dispatcher.
No wonder pilots don't take us regional dispatchers seriously .. We are just some underpaid puppets!

You have to consider the years of accumulating 1500 hours and the six figure debt many pilots have when starting at a regional. That and the perceived pilot shortage.

Much different than the few thousand dollars and 6 weeks of studying for a test to join the pool of way more potential employees than available positions.

Mr Doolittle, what PLanefun stated was that the first year FO pay is greater than the "top out" at the regional dx level.
And in fact top out at PSA is $22/hr. Starting FO is now, with the raise from two weeks ago (and not counting the signon cash) is close to 34$/hr
So PlaneFun was comparing some poor slob who has been sitting in the trenches at PSA for 10yrs or more..(there is at least one) and still gets less than a first yr FO. By a lot.
Purely a sign of wretched management and almost no union assistance. It's a lose-lose situation.

But as for the how the pilots treat you...well I think that's up to you and the relationships you foster. There will always be some bad players. But mostly good folks just trying to make a buck.

BTW....how are those contract "negotiations" going at PSA?? Smoothly, I hope and pray.

$34/hr x 75 hr monthly guarantee x 12 months = $30,600

$22/hr x 40 hr work week x 52 weeks per year = $45,760

just for comparisons sake. also....

$34/hr x 1200 hr yearly max = $40,800

It's actually $20 to top there. So pretty much top out is the same as FO starting wage, other than they get a huge bonus for coming on.

I think that every dispatch office should top higher than beginning FO pay without a doubt.

you left out per-diem and the 15,000 signing bonus.

and the cost of getting pilot ratings v. the cost of getting a dispatch license.

unfortunately, as long as companies don't respect their dispatchers and the dispatch schools keep putting out more licensed
people than there are jobs, the regionals won't be forced to raise wages to decrease the difference. right now supply v. demand is
dictating the increasing starting pays of pilots (which i believe are underpaid). also, the number of regionals constantly undercutting
each other for contracts with little to any profit margins means they are willing to skimp on pay where ever possible, starting with
ground-handling and working its way up to include dispatch. pilots and mechanics are in short supply. companies don't believe
dispatchers are
