A350XWB vs. B777!

There has been a lot of talk on the web about the A350, being a superior product to the current 777.

That might be true as a the 777 was designed in what early 90's, and the A350 is 21st century technology.

I hear that Boeing might be worried about the CASM and fuel burn on the 777 vs. that of the A350, and might be considering a new 787-esque 777 replacement to tackle the A350.

The 777 isn't that old maybe 10-12 yrs. tops. I don't really think that Boeing needs to have a 777 replacement.

What does everyone else think.

I think that there's a wholeeeeeeee freaking world outside that door, Max, and maybe you should experience it sometime.

"The all-new composite wing design lifts the A350 XWB cruise speed to Mach 0.85 (the cruise speed of the A380). Excellent aerodynamics, together with advanced high lift devices and advanced systems contribute to greater fuel economy in all flight regimes and on the ground. Moreover, the new Rolls Royce Trent XWB engine, producing up to 95,000lb of thrust, will draw on the latest manufacturing, materials and thermodynamic expertise to deliver lower fuel burn and lower maintenance costs while minimising the noise ‘footprint’ around airports and reducing environmental impact. "
Sounds like a very viable competitor. Possibly even safe 2 say a reverse engineered "cripple seven". Airbus automation however.....There have been issues with the design of the Airbus autopilots having to do with the automation philosophy Airbus uses:crazy:..... I'll stick with Boeing. :o

I think I finally agree with CF about something.

Geez, I ask a ligitimate aviation question on an aviation board and because I almost have 16k post, I have no life, and don't get out???

Please.

I get out and have tons of friends, just because I'm logged on doesn't always mean that I'm at the computer, or home. Or if home that I'm home alone.

Not that I have to explain myself to you, but why not actually trying to answer the question.

I mean it could be worse, I could be C_F and only come on here to start bogus threads for his own amusement, and stroke his clearly fragile *online* ego!

Shucks, peg...

Good lord, can you use simpler words? I don't have a 140 IQ to understand what you're saying, professor! :D

Say what you want, I'm the biggest draw on this website. People see me start a thread and they know it's going to be good.

Right on cue.

Now, don't forget that Mesa isn't too far a drive to "all white tukee."

:D

Getting back on focus. I'm writing a comparative analysis on this situation for school, so would appreciate some good feed back.

So you and Mike stick that up your pipes and smoke it!

:)

So far I really like what I've been reading the past few months on the A350.

Too bad it will come out too late to possibly be a bigger seller, Boeing will own the market with the 787.

Yes, I know that both planes are in different market segments, but still. I hear if Boeing makes a 787-10 it could be competition for the A350, 900/1000 series.

Still not sure, if Boeing needs to make "Y3" a reality even with the competition coming from the A350.

Where's Cessnaflyer, lol?

It's an airplane. It's a tube with wings. So as long as it gets from point a to point b profitably, airlines will buy it and fly it.

I can see/touch a 777 whereas the A350 is just a pretty picture! "Vaporware" of the airline world.

True. I like the Boeing cockpit design philosophies over the Airbus, but I do like the stick compared to the yoke because I don't have to peer over the top of the yoke post to look at the NavDisplay when my seats not at the correct height.

I like to "Low ride" in cruise flight, essay!

Call it maturity, but I've always been a big Boeing person. But, I actually like what I've read about the A350, and hope it is a good plane and a success for Airbi.

But, if it comes to it, I don't think the 777 is quite ready for a premature death.
