A serious issue: a lack of free hotel pens

Has anyone else noticed hotels aren't leaving as many free pens in the rooms as before this "recession"? Extreme cost cutting measures akin to NWA leaving off the olive of their salads? Not to mention the potential safety ramifications of running out of pens to put in the cockpit.

A tip: if you have to leave a pen in the cockpit at least take the cap off and throw it out. That way it can't easily be stolen, as no many people take cap-less pens.

The best hotel pens in the whole world come from the Inn on the Park in MSN. They're clickers!

I'm a clicker-guy. But then I usually have a "jetcareers.com" pen or one of those clear blue NH Madrid pens that are pretty dope.

Those sound pretty high end right now I feel lucky if I can snag a La Quinta. It's tough out there.

I know it's tradition for pilots to use the pens outta the hotels, but I never lost the pens I had with me from my days at Amflight! I just kept the thing in my uniform pocket without question and it never seemed to get lost. In fact I'm still using that same pen I had for my year at Express.

I can't stand writing with cheap ball-point pens.

So I carry my own pens that I'm comfortable writing with and know the quality of the writing won't make me throw away the pen or the paper.

Yeah, I'm a clicker fan, too. In fact, Nessa normally winds up "accidentally putting them in her purse" b/c she likes them, too. This normally results in me tearing the house apart looking for a pen 5 minutes before I have to leave for work. The few I have left are running out of ink.

That being said, Doug, if you have a few extra JC pens laying around...... :)

Best pen EVER:

Nuh uh! If you're going to be an airline pilot, you're going to have to cut out all that "I'm going to buy a pen/newspaper/notepad" stuff.

If your notepad doesn't have a hotel chain, your pen with some logo and you actually dropped $.75 to buy that paper that no one likes, but we all read, USA Today, you're doing it wrong.

Notepad? Who needs a notepad? Are you flying Cessna 172's or something? :)

Jepp binder went on the right side of me using my cool little Jepp binder holder, and everything I needed to write went on the ATIS card or the release! The flight number is in the clock, the clearance is on the ATIS card and I'm happy as a clam.

Notepad? Oh yes, I've got to write your wife love letters on SOMETHING there, Train!

(oh, snap!)

pwnt. I'll come up with something for you...that I'll mostly likely have to text you because it'll be so over the top I can't post it here.
