I am seriously considering a career as a pilot in my future and was wondering if you need a pilot's log book as soon as you start lessons, whether it be at a local airport or flight academy. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

technically i dont think you need it until you solo, but you might as well get it since they are fairly inexpensive and it will save your cfi a lot of heartache

Yes, you do.

Your instructor is required to log all training given towards the certificate. So, a logbook works a lot better than a wadded up piece of paper to keep the official record.

Most FBOs will sell a couple version, in the $5-25 range, depending on how large of one you get.

HTH,
Josh
