i got this in the mail today , i do not know anything other than whats in this post

The following information was provided to the Vaughn Career Services office by one of our graduates who currently works at Boeing in Seattle WA.

Position: Aviation Maintenance Technician

Requirements: A Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate (Please note your certificate number on your resume).

The AMT position will be part of the team working on the 787 Dreamliner Program

Location: Seattle, WA

Talking to my dad I guess they started up a new self cert program in the last few weeks. Not sure what it means but that might be the need for some A&Ps
 
The word I got was that the starting pay was $25-27 an hour for entry level. I think some of the in-house certification has to do with fiber optics. If I understand correctly, the 787 does not have any traditional copper/aluminum wiring; only fiber-optic cable. So you get an in-house cert. for fiber-optic work. I think the two jobs they really need to fill are painters and cable pullers.

This info is purely hearsay word of mouth from various instructors at my A&P school.
