I feel like I post this everytime I come across a post where someone is studying to be a CFI - but it doesn't hurt to post it again... Here you go.

My CFI 'Bag 'o Tricks.' (Right click to save the documents...)

An article I wrote on basic communication awhile ago to give to your students.

The 'Wings Program' stuff may be a bit out of date and a BFR is now a flight review... but I think that everything else is still current. (nothing about TCA's or any of that in there)

Also... in the 'Bag o' Tricks' - I have my 'PPL requirements', 'How to Land a 172' guide' that I handed out when I gave that lesson, 'TSA' Stuff, 'Solo Requirements' Handout...

Hope it helps - use what you want, save the rest!!!!!

One other thing I used to do was give 1st time students a 'CD' of everything that they would need for my program, to save them from buying books they didn't need, so they would have an electronic reference for basic flight stuff. One of these days I will put together a 'master' CD and just give it out to anyone here who asks. After ground school for sure - once I'm on the line at my new gig and have time to putter around while on reserve. (I'll try to remember...)

Legal Disclamer: Nothing I have linked supersedes established procedures in your aircraft's POH/FOM, your companies established policies, checklists, and procedures. These documents are presented as a guide to assist in basic flight instruction when used by a qualified, licensed flight instructor. By using them, referencing them, having them near you when a inspector walks by - you agree not to sue me, my benefactors, my benefecaries, my wife, my wife's cat, my mechanic, or anyone related to me, anyone I know, have met, will meet. etc., et al., for the use of these aformentioned documents. All orig. material is copywrited by me, so don't steal it, and by steal it I mean put your name on it, take credit for it, or use it for financial gain. I mean, don't turn around sell it to some dude, don't use it when writing a book - I'm probably going to someday, at least I putter around with the idea when commuting back and forth and have a power supply on the plane for my computer... that is when I don't have a movie to watch, or try to sleep.... not that I can sleep in the back of airplanes, I've always had a problem with sleeping while sitting upright... anyway, I digress - please don't crib it and write a book, someday I will read it - see my stuff and find you. I have a pack of rabid lawyers chained up in my back yard and I've been only feeding them poorly written congressional legislation run through a shredder mixed with Viagra and ground up baby seal meat... and making them watch re-runs of My Sweet Sixteen and Cop Rock I found on a stack of VHS tapes that I bought at 'questionable' garage sale for $.15 each.
By all means, use them to help develop your own CFI course, use the handouts for your students, esp. the basic comm guide - it's helped lots of new pilots in busy L.A. airspace get a handle on talking on the radio. Just credit this awesome instructor, all around good guy, Rich Praser, who put them together when handing anything out... It's ok to give the material to your CFI buddies also... Oh, and Pay it forward when you have the chance. Thanks for reading the small print, and congratulations, either you know how to increase the font size on your browser, or you don't need new glasses.
