757 Lust?

I'm watching "Iron Maiden: Flight 666" and trying to explain to my lady friend exactly why the Boeing 757 is such a drop-dead sexy piece of machinery. I'm having a hard time getting beyond the whole "because it just is" explanation.

Can any of you industry guys articulate it better for us? I'm just a GA guy and don't carry much merit in the discussion lol.

Because it looks like a big ol' man dongle! :)

Over powered. Look at dem enginnnesss and how big the airplane is! Can't you tell????

I like them because it's the best proportioned looking airplane to me. The 777 is close. Other Boeings, especially the 737 and 767, yawn. The 747 should be my favorite, but it isn't for some reason. 4 engines=more interesting at the very least, but it just doesn't grab my attention other than it is massive. The A380 grabs my attention because it's massive as well, but BARF! Perhaps that's why.

No Airbus gets an award for looks. Just doesn't. Fact. :)

There are plenty of other planes out there that look good, but the 757 just, I don't know, looks GREAT! In summary, your original statement is best. "Because it just is"

Huh? And to think I always complain about how loud the pneumatic system is. You have to turn a pack off to try to quiet it down. And the cockpit is way cramped compared to a 76. And the 76 lands so much nicer.

I will try to remember this thread next time I gotta fly a 75 from Newark to Ontario against the wind and the damn oven takes a flippen hour to heat up my crew meal. Beats workin' for a living I guess...

Women just don't care like we do in most cases... They'll tell you how "cute" a paint scheme looks though...

Lust after the B757, ah.. "light twin" all you want, but I think we all can agree on what is the real sexy queen of the skies....:p

because it just is!!! You forgot the explanation points. Some get it, some don't. If you have to explain it...oh nevermind

Well Don. You know what they say....Some are built for comfort, some are built for speed...

I greatly preferred the 767, as well.

The 757 was a fun, overpowered little sports car like an M class BMW while the 767 (at least the -300) was more of a Cadillac sedan in comparison. In our freighter versions they both are very loud up front (75 more than the 76) and as Don said, we'd usually turn a pack off to reduce the noise.

On the other hand, the MD11 is overpowered, extremely quiet up front to the point of not needing headsets and faster than the B75/76.

Anyone remember the Continental Air Micronesia Pub Planes? It was fun island hopping all over the Pacific in them. Always loved the DC10/MD11.
