737NG crash off coast of Bali. Lion Air

I guess my question is, what would you do differently as the FO? I'm not CPL holder, so I don't know. Do you set TOGA and initiate go around even without the CA's approval?

Absolutely.

This post brought to you by beta from my iPhone.

According to the transcript, they automation was turned off at 500 feet. Only reason you'd do that was if you saw something and were gonna continue. The F/O, who was flying, said no runway earlier and never does call the runway. Wonder who disconnected the automation? Anyhow, sounds like a complete and total breakdown of communication and proper procedure at a critical time. Maybe they each thought the other guy was flying the jet when in reality nobody was. Last thing I'd do if I don't see anything is disconnect the automation. The jet will do a nice go around at the push of a lever if you let it.

All day long! Remember you must be conservative and even though you might like the approach if the person sitting next to you says "go around" you better making moves to do so. If you don't ans something bad happens its your ass!

They should've had better CRM, but even if they did, when the CA saw the FO flying him into the sea below glideslope and MDA, he should've taken over and gone around.

I'd rather have my live body engaged in a heated discussion after a successful landing, not my dead body pulled from the wreckage.
