A Lionair Boeing 737-800, registration PK-LKS performing flight JT-904 from Bandung to Denpasar (Indonesia) with 101 passengers and 7 crew, was on approach to Denpasar's runway 09 at about 15:10L (07:10Z), but came to a stop in the sea short of the runway, the aircraft broke up in two parts. All occupants were evacuated from the aircraft and have been taken to hospitals with minor injuries (scratches).

The airline confirmed flight JT-904 went into the sea while landing at Denpasar Airport. The aircraft PK-LKS originated in Banjarmasin and was scheduled to fly to Bandung (JT-945), Denpasar (JT-904) and back to Bandung (JT-905). The aircraft carried 101 passengers and 7 crew.

Radar data confirm the aircraft was approaching runway 09 and suggest the aircraft was about 100 feet below a 3 degrees glidepath descending at 700 feet per minute at a speed between 126 and 135 knots over ground, descending through 200 feet MSL about 1nm short of the touch down zone and 0.6nm short of the sea wall.

Supposedly this plane and delivered brand new from Boeing around a month ago.

I've also heard that this airline is not the best place to work.

I've also heard that this airline is not the best place to work.

I have two friends working there, they actually love it, of course they said they don`t wanna build a career there, but they have an hell of a lifestyle flying an equipment that would take them at least 10 years starting out at a Regional in the US and are making some pretty decent money.

Whoa hang on here, they landed short of the runway in those weather conditions?

This should be interesting once the details come out... hard to believe they flew a perfectly good airplane into the water...

CB's in the area is about the only thing "out of the ordinary"... microburst?

Yes, Lion air is Pft, and if you believe half the stuff on pprune, it's amazing this didn't happen sooner. Some are suggesting they were out of fuel...

Thankfully, not planning any indonesian vacations anytime soon...

BUT that's pure conjecture at this point.

"Congratulations! Your PFT is complete. Thank you for training with Lion Air! Please make the final payment at the front desk on the way out. Our investment into your future is as important as your investment into our broken airplane!"

Why do people knock Lion Air when Southwest does the same thing? You pay for your 737 type rating and have the opportunity to fly for them, can someone explain this for me? I'm probably missing something...
