Doug (and anyone else that has flown or does fly the 727):
I know that in all of my dispatcher training, we always plan for a landing with 30 degrees of flaps in the 727, and from what I've been told, there isn't much of a hit should the crew decide to use 40 degree. With regards to performance, how much of a difference will that extra 10 degrees make? How often is it used? I've heard that some operators actually lockwire the lever so that 40 degrees can not be used.
What's the deal with that??
How about on the 737?
