Hi all
Have been trying to get a good job, sent out LOTS of resumes, and not blanket email bombing either..EMB500, C550/560 and B200 type and time, glass cockpit, VP-Sales & Marketing, etc, etc..BUT..cannot find anything..is it just me or has the market sort of bottomed out, again?

It depends... Where are you trying to go? If it's a major, unfortunately those times aren't very competitive... I know because your qualifications are very similar to mine, and I have 121 time. Yet I can't get the time of day from any major or LCC. They're still hiring LCAs and space shuttle commanders!

If it's corporate, that's always a tough nut to crack, especially if you're just cold mailing resumes...

Hi GypsyPilot
No majors..only corporates, instructors, cargo, freight, far, far off places...but no cigar..

LOL..no bites from...anyone! Far north Canada, Alaska, Russia, Africa, South America, Asia..nothing.

COPA is hiring is South America/Caribbean, and seems to be pretty easy to get hired with. Caribbean seems to be an easy market in general. Liat and Seaborne are hiring street captains from what I have heard, even without a prior type in the aircraft that they fly. Not sure if those are "far off" enough for you or what equipment you want to fly.

That's just it, guys..have applied to all the above...more than once..never hear back, let alone a rejection letter/email.
At this point, a Supercub would be more than enough!

To be honest, not a lot.
Am geographically challenged and frankly a bit short on the...green stuff.
Family to support, so cannot spend long periods of time away as that gets real expensive.

Most of the guys around here are pretty helpful. Tell us where you are, what you've been doing. Perhaps someone knows someone...networking, especially when you can shake hands and talk with someone, is worth 1000 electronic submissions.

Just my .02...

Make that 3300 submissions (seriously...!) LOL

Thank you very much. Humbled by the response. I greatly appreciate this.

Well if I may, I will post my cover letter below that should sum up my career from the get up go.
Please do pardon the following long post....

I hold an FAA CPL Certificate with a Multi-Engine Instrument Rating, Advanced Sim Training on the Bombardier Q400, CRJ200 Regional Jet, Embraer Phenom 100, Beechcraft Super King Air B200 and CE560/CE550B Citation Corporate Jets, FAA CFI/CFII Instrument Instructor Ratings, MEI/MEII Multi-Engine Instrument Instructor Ratings, Radio Operators License with English Proficiency, and a First Class Medical. I have logged a total of 4000 flight hours including 1795 hours Pilot In Command, 1800 hours Jet Time, and 2350 hours EFIS Glass Cockpit (Collins Pro-Line 21, Primus 1000, Garmin Prodigy 1000, Collins Pro-Line 4, Thales).

I have Canadian and recently had Singapore Work Permits. I was recently based there and am very familiar with the area demographics. I am currently in Mumbai, India.

My aviation career is varied. Most recently I occupy the position of VP Sales & Marketing for a renowned Air Charter firm, previously had contracted as a Chief Pilot for an HNI in Singapore, flying and completely managing an Embraer Phenom 100. I worked as a Customer Liaison Pilot at Bombardier’s Mumbai Regional Office. I was responsible to support our airline customers with product insight, training advice, materials, and operational recommendations.

Between 2008 and 2010 I was employed as a Senior First Officer on the Citation Bravo Jet with Airmid Aviation in Mumbai. We mainly transported VVIP’s and Government Personnel throughout India and various International Destinations. Prior to Airmid, I was a Senior First Officer and Captain on a Beech Super King Air 200 with LMW in Mumbai. In addition to my flying duties, I helped both companies to manage their Aviation Departments and to schedule pilot training, aircraft maintenance, and Jeppesen Charts.

I also have experience as a Flight Instructor at the Aviation Career Academy in Florida. Here I provided professional Groundschool, Simulator, and Flight Training, both single and multi engine, to various pilots including those from Oxford Aviation Academy and European airlines like BMI, Virgin, BA, KLM and Martinair.

I am a dedicated, dependable person with a strong work ethic and professional attitude. Throughout my flying career, I have maintained an excellent safety record, training file, and professional work history with all employers.

I am also a very experienced Marketing and Operations Manager, with experience in an extraordinarily wide gamut of Industry ranging from Real Estate, Shipping and Construction.

You can send a million resumes and applications out and get zero response. That's the job search that our parents were able to find success with back in the 1970's in regular jobs. John's son hailing from New Amsterdam, I spy your curriculum vitae on my escritoire I shall send for you before luncheon.

They had to be typed out one by one so there weren't so many flying around HR departments. Today, you can crank 100/minute out and mail merge the addresses lickety split to there's a tidal wave of paper you will get buried underneath.

You need to creative opportunities to network and meet people face-to-face.

Thank you for your response.
I never mail merge or blanket mail, more often than not, they are individually addressed.
I have exhausted all my contacts and funds looking for a job, so travel is not easy. A single ticket anywhere is close to $1500, not mentioning local expenses. Again not easy, with 3 mouths to feed and no job.

What city are you in? Start at your local airport.

If you haven't worn a hole in your shoes yet, you're not looking for a job.

I, for certain reasons, can't fly locally..only wherever an FAA license is accepted.
Does sitting outside offices for 7 to 8 hours at a stretch since 1997 or walking up and down Wilson airport and 5 others in Africa for almost a month, amongst a few other airports across The States and Asia, when I was able, count as "wearing my shoes out ?"

Again, please do pardon me if I came across as curt, it's not how I meant it.
It's just that I have explored every possibility including borrowing to "buy" a large cabin type (yeah, yeah...I know..!) to get with a good company and it's extremely frustrating when all your efforts just go up in smoke.

Please do not take offense to what I am about to post....I only want to help as I know how frustrating the job hunt can be. Also.....I am from an Alaska, Northern Canada, freight type background for reference.
I am not sure what your resume looks like but if it is similar to what you posted earlier you may have too many qualifications/types in my humble opinion. I believe that sometimes less is more. Taylor your resume to the company you are applying to. -For example- If they don't have a q400, they don't need to know you have advanced sim training in a q 400. It's irrelevant. Irrelevant may be a little strong but I am trying to make a point. I really hope this helps.
