The three were on their way from Arlington to Abilene when the Piper single-engine plane crashed Thursday, Senior Trooper Sparky Dean of the Texas Department of Public Safety said in a news release.

Witnesses said the plane came apart before it hit the ground, Dean said.

Very sorry to hear this. Do you have any other details? The witness said it broke up in flight? did it happen when that cold front came through? DO you know what school they were from?
:(

Look in the general topics section- there is more on this- It was an Arrow from Skymates out of Arlington.

Noone knows anything more than the fact the plane broke up in flight.

:(

The cold front came through the day before, so I don't think weather was a factor. They were from Skymates, and were flying N55307.

i was out that direction yesterday around the same time; wx was beautiful. it wasn't an especially smooth day, but nothing out of the ordinary for having a strong cold front pass through the area.

condolences to all involved. very sad to hear.
