23 Inches!!

Personally, I was thinking "manifold pressure", but most props are running at 2500RPM+ so you wouldn't be doing Satan's work by flying oversquare.

Good Lord! I loved this asinine comment:
"Even though the (distance between seats) is extremely narrow, we are talking about seats, not about ... having passengers simply standing on the floor," he says. "You are sitting on a special seat, but it is a seat." In other words, it's a crap seat, but so much better than standing. lmao

Oh goody, a "special" seat, where your boys grow numb after 30 minutes, you have no padding for your lower back, you can possibly store a kleenex under your seat (I mean look at the space) and with "23 inches between their perch and the seat in front of them" you will have a scratch and sniff moment during the entire flight with the pax infront of you. If you over 5' 10", I guess the experience includes having your knees jammed into the seat infront of you as well. Ooooh and the arm rest is now an elbow rest. And there is a cool little rail to bang your heels against as well. I can't imagine there are any tray tables. Perhaps the carrier can rent you a tiny lap tray for your laptop or whatever that velcros around your nethers much like a kneeboard. What a delight! The traveling public will be so happy to be sitting in a seat that is "like a saddle"! Yippy kai yay!

The frame on that seat looks about as sturdy as a cheap metal folding chair. WTF?

Cowboys ride eight hours on their horses during the day and still feel comfortable in the saddle."

They also usually died in their early twenties.

Are you hardcore enough for cheap tickets?

Is it just me or does the girl in the picture look uncomfortably scared?? Maybe the photographer was yelling out, "look like you enjoy the 23 inches!" Riiiiiight....

Thats ridiculous. How is it that airline travel is turning into the equivalent of taking a subway? I'm waiting for them to install overhead hold bars for all the standers, and ditch the bag bins for lame scrolling advertisements.

Huh ... the 737-400 is certified for up to 188 pax, the 737-800 up to 189 pax, and A320 up to 179.

Most B738 operators have around 160 seats.

I'll drive, thanks.

I'd give those seats a week in service before the first larger passenger complains about not fitting and wanting to me moved to a real seat for the same price.

I doubt this will ever be anything more than an idea... It will never see the inside of an airplane. A fairly large passenger wouldn't be able to get out of that space in an emergency, so I don't see the FAA signing off on it.

But nice try. You know the inventor would never use their own product.

Jesus Christ, I'd sooner drive! (and that's a big statement as I hate driving)

is that dangerous too? ;)

Depends...high speeds, low MP and high RPM are to be avoided too, but you're probably not going to be damned to hell like you will be for running oversquare.

They really didn't prove their point very much. The picture should have been with the model in that second row... oh wait... that would have shown how ridiculously tight those seats would be.

This whole idea is just idiocy.
