+200 hp c172rg stc?

Cessnaflyer

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Is there an STC out there to put a +200 HP engine into a 172RG to make it a high performance aircraft?

Umm... 200hp would NOT make it a high performance aircraft. This true whether you're talking about the regs or whether you're talking about the actual performance you can expect from the plane.

Edit: Opps. I missed the + sign the first time through. My bad. There were some military spec'd C172s that came with 210hp in them, but I don't believe any of them were RG's. Still it stands to reason that someone might be able to get a 337 for such an installation. There are no +200hp STC's that I'm aware of.

The 172XP (C-172K) can be STC'd for 210hp for 5 minutes. It has a continental 6 cylinder. turns out to be quite a nice plane.

Shoot! It's a perfect opportunity to finally get a HP airplane without having to buy one. I am surprised there isn't anything.

Its the perfect opportunity for you to develop the STC for one. Spend about $1M doing the engineering and testing, then sell the STC for $10k a copy and you'll only end up losing about $990,000 on the deal when its all said and done. :sarcasm: :D

I have flown a C-172 with 210 HP, no shoot about it.

But a 172RG is not really 172. It is actually typed as a 175.

Haha thats the way to do it!

By the time you waste money doing that why not just get a 177RG/182RG/early210???? Assuming you love cessna products that much.

I hate Cessna products but it is what pays the bills right now. If it were my choice it would be an all Beechcraft fleet.

182 or a 210 wouldn't be easier to obtain?

Well there has been a little incident by a renter and we need a new engine and prop...

There are more of each of the following than Gutlesses. I'm sure obtaining them is the same. Open wallet throw money in the garbage(metaphorically speaking).

Yeah I have that file as well

Texas Skyways does alot of Cessna Mods...I think I remember reading one time they had a 230hp STC for the 177RG, which is by far the sexiest looking RG that Cessna built.

Where I instructed we had a '78 182RG with a Red-Gold IO-540 engine...easily one of my favorite aircraft to fly period. Would true out at 156 knots at 7000ft, on 13 gal/hour...only if I could afford to buy that airplane...
